The nursery was developed by the Mc Nabb family in the early 1990's and specialises in the propagation and growing on of a wide selection of varieties within the Proteaceae family along with other hardy low maintenance species suitable for coastal and general New Zealand conditions.

A retail nursery display area is situated at the property. Plants are also grown to order for the following season when particular varieties are sold out from the current seasons range. The nursery also sells at a wholesale level within the trade to landscapers, developers, cut flower growers, and has a display at Plant Wholesalers, Kumeu.

The 2.2 hectare property was sold in 2004 to the present owners, Wendy Marshall and Tony White, and is expanding both in plant numbers and capacity to meet the increasing demand for colourful, long flowering, low maintenance, sculptural shrubs within residential gardens and commercial developments. s

Wendy and Tony have been working within the horticultural industry since the late 1970's when they commenced development of a 40 hectare subtropical fruit orchard in Kerikeri.

Prior to returning to NZ in 2003 after an extended period working overseas in the UK and Israel, they were engaged for 12 years in senior management positions within the Bahai World Centre in Haifa.

Their work principally engaged them within a 10 year project of construction, development and maintenance of 20 hectares of formal terraced gardens surrounding the Shrine of the Bab along with management of the gardens maintenance operations over the final years of the project.

The 19 terraces, designed as a spiritual garden, stretch 1 km from sea level to the top of Mount Carmel and incorporate extensive stonework, lighting, water features and ornamentation. The terraced gardens were integrated with the older established gardens of the World Centre and are internationally acclaimed as one of the outstanding garden developments in the World.
