Protea Laurifolia Rose Mink – Good Seconds!

A larger robust shrub with grey-green leaves. Flowers are produced over a long period and shrub generally has a tidy vigorous growth habit. Flowers are heavily tipped with black making them quite striking in floral displays.

Protea Pink Ice (3.3litre pot)

A vigorous, tidy and hardy plant adaptable to most conditions. Free flowering all year round with the peak over Autumn-Winter. Flowers are a rich pink-red with a silvery appearance and burgundy floral mass. One of the most popular proteas. It is adaptable to a wide range of soil types. Prune prior to Spring growth to shape and size. Best grown in an open sunny situation.

Protea Passion – Good Seconds!

A Protea Eximea hybrid. Flowering is from early Autumn through to Spring. It is an adaptable Protea with a compact growth habit that grows well in most well drained acidic soils in full sun. Water well once a week during long dry spells to establish. Large flower with lime coloured rose tipped bracts surrounding a distinct deep maroon protruding central floral mass. An attractive and unique flower. Prune well in mid-Spring to enhance flowering the following year. Avoid phosphate fertilisers. Useful cutflower.

H: 1.5m.  F: Autumn-Spring.  Medium frost hardy.




Protea Peach Sheen

A strong and adaptable plant in most conditions. Hardy and easily grown. Flowers are peach coloured with a black trim.

H: 2m.  F: year round but predominantly Winter-Spring. Frost hardy.

 




Protea Niobe

An erect growing hybrid Protea. Has silvery-green flowers tipped with black tufts predominantly lateAutumn to early Spring. Prune to shape in mid Spring to enhance Flowering the following year. Prefers well drained soils in full sun. Avoid phosphate based fertilisers.

Protea nerifolia Silver Tips

Larger growing Protea with an erect growth habit. An adaptable plant that will grow in most well drained soils. Produces many flowers on long stems suitable for picking. Flower heads have silvery-pink bracts tipped with white and black.

Protea nerifolia Ruby (3 litre pot)

Also known as nerifolia Pink and the most well known Protea in home gardens from past years. Develops into a large shrub so cutting flowers and Spring pruning assist to limit dimensions in the early years. Adaptable to a variety of soils and climatic conditions. Deep pink flowers with black trim on top and a creamy central mass. Excellent cut flower.

Protea nerifolia Alba (Cream) – Lovely large seconds!

An erect quick growing plant. Produces Medium sized yellowy cream flowers tipped with black, throughout Autumn to Spring. Grows quite tall so useful at the rear of other shrubs and for its cut flowers. Adaptable to most well drained soils in sunny situations. Prune to shape.

H: 2 metres.  F: Autumn-Winter.  Frost tolerant.




Protea p. hyb Mini Red (good container plant!)

A dwarf spreading shrub. Produces small reddish flowers, free flowering throughout winter. Ideal small Protea for containers and the smaller garden. Prune back to shape in late Spring. Prefers free draining soils in full sun.

H: 1m.  F: Winter-Spring.  Medium frost tolerant.

 




Protea m.Pacific Queen

A low growing Queen variety of magnifica origins. Large deep pink flower with incurved bracts and black beard. Shrub will tend to sprawl in width. Adaptable to a wide range of soil types. Protect from frost when young.

Protea Limelight (3.3litre pot) – prolific and long flowering!

A rounded shrub bearing very attractive lime greeny-white flowers for a number of months during the year, during winter. Popular for picking. Suited to average well drained soils.

Protea Margaret Watling

Cultivar of nerifolia this shrub develops into a nice rounded shrub with attractive flowers of lime green bracts surrounded by a maroon beard, develops in winter.  Does not produce long stems but the flower is attractive for picking all the same. suited to situation in full sun and well drained soils.

H: 1.5m.  F: Winter.  Medium frost hardy.




Protea Lepidocarpodendron – the ‘Black Protea’

Commonly known as Black Mink. A fast growing dense shrub bearing flowers in winter on longish stems. Suitable for picking. A striking flower hugely appealing for floral work with its slim profile and thick black silky top enclosing a white floral mass. As elegant as it is unusual and sought after amongst the current varieties of protea flowers.

Tolerates to heavy frost.

Height: 1.5 – 2.5 metre  F: Winter.

Protea New Moon

An erect tidy shrub with grey-green leaves and terminal creamy WHITE flowers. Peak flowering usually mid winter.

H: 2m.  F: Winter.  Medium frost hardy.




Protea Green Ice – PRICE SPECIAL! – Good Seconds!

An erect compact shrub of manageable proportions.

Flowers are a light yellowy-greenish colour with black tipped bracts surrounding a darker floral mass.

Produces long strong stems suitable for early season picking.

Medium frost hardy.

Protea Cynaroides Arctic Ice (White King)

A superior white selection of the King Protea. The King is the largest flowered Protea producing terminal flowers on long slender stems. The King protea produces buds on its bare stems and can therefore be pruned into bare wood when flower stems are cut. Often flowers twice annually once established. Best suited to full sun in well drained soils. Prune after flowering.

Some plants are taller, let me know which you prefer.

Protea Christine

A hybrid of Protea Compacta parentage displaying clean coloured rich pink floral bracts touched with silvery highlights.

Produces long stems good for picking and tends to be a bit free flowering, mainly over autumn and early winter

H: 2-2.5m W: 2m. F: Autumn-Winter.  Frost hardy down to -4 degrees once established.

Stock expected to be available late April to May.




Protea Franciscan Hybrid

Large rich velvety pink flowers on long stems with an overall fine silvery pubescence. Central mass is a deep wine-red colour.

Very good for picking as cut flowers.

It adapts to heavier clay soils.

Protea Almond Frost – Perhaps the MOST popular flower !

A strong plant with grey/green foliage and cream flowers. A pure white beard and an almond green base flower tone. A most sought after plant, and very popular for floral work.

Will flower occasionally throughout the year but the main flowering is in Winter.

Great for cut-flower market.
